Israel could face an impending security disaster due to a soldier shortage, warns opposition leader Yair Lapid.

It was in a televised speech that Yair Lapid criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government. Lapid believes that Israel's military is strained "to the breaking point" and that it could face a "security disaster" if something does not change.

- The government is sending the army into a multi-front war without a strategy, without the necessary means and with far too few soldiers, said Lapid.

The other day, Israeli army chief Eyal Zamir raised similar concerns.

“I am waving ten red flags,” Zamir said, according to Israeli media.

“It won’t be long before the army will be unable to carry out its routine missions.”
