Trump's USA US-UK Relations
The royal couple on their way to Trump: "Will be very safe"
King Charles and Queen Camilla are on their way to the US for an official state visit to President Donald Trump. The visit has been planned for a long time, but after the gala shooting on Saturday, the trip was in doubt. After talks between the UK and the US on Sunday, the countries decided that the visit should take place - with some security changes, writes the BBC.
- I think it's great, he will be very safe. The White House area is really safe, Trump said on CBS's "60 minutes".
The royal couple's visit comes at a time when tensions between the UK and the US are higher than they have been in a long time, partly because of Trump's criticism of NATO. The hope is that King Charles' four-day visit will be seen as a charm offensive to get the US president in a better mood.
Election 2026 Political situation in Israel
Rivals join forces to overthrow Netanyahu's government
Two of Benjamin Netanyahu's biggest rivals are running to unseat the incumbent Israeli prime minister in this fall's elections, several international media outlets report. Right-wing politician Yair Lapid and opposition leader Naftali Bennett announced on Sunday that they are merging their parties – Bennett 2026 and Yesh Atid – to form a new government alternative.
Bennett and Lapid have both been prime ministers in the 2020s.
“We stand here together for the sake of our children. The State of Israel must change direction,” Bennett said at a joint press conference with Lapid.
The new party is called Beyahad, which means “together” in Hebrew.
The duo has collaborated before, including when they took power from Netanyahu after the 2021 elections. They then formed a coalition government with a very narrow majority, which, however, only lasted about a year and a half.
The change of power in Hungary
Orbán's oligarchs flee Hungary and take their wealth with them
Several people in former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's inner circle appear to be fleeing Hungary. This is due to the formal change of power that is expected in May.
According to The Guardian, which refers to sources in Orbán's own party Fidesz, at least three people have already moved billions of forints out of the country. The incoming Prime Minister Péter Magyar warned this weekend that several "oligarchs" have also taken their children out of school and appear to be in the process of moving to countries from which they cannot be forced back.
Magyar is therefore calling on local authorities - police, prosecutors and tax authorities - to stop the flight, before it becomes difficult for the country to act. However, the development is expected, judging by Péter Magyar's own statements.
-The situation in our country is urgent and Hungary has problems in every way. Hungary has been plundered, betrayed, put in debt and ruined, he said the day after the election.

Frenchman licked a straw in Singapore – could go to prison
An 18-year-old Frenchman licked a straw from a vending machine in Singapore and then put it back in the machine. At the same time, he filmed himself and posted the clip on Instagram with the text “the city is not safe”.
He is now charged with sabotage and outrageous behavior. He risks more than two years in prison and tens of thousands of kronor in fines, in the country that is known for its strict rules of order.
The clip was published in March, quickly went viral and was picked up by local media. Not long later, the incident was reported to the police.
The company behind the vending machine had to throw all 500 straws into the machine after the incident, according to court documents. The case will go to court on May 22.
