Trump: Kimmel should be fired immediately
Jimmy Kimmel is being attacked again by Donald Trump.
And again it's about jokes the host has made on his talk show.
"Jimmy Kimmel should be fired immediately by Disney and ABC," the US president wrote.
Trump joins his wife Melania Trump in attacking Jimmy Kimmel on Truth social. Earlier on Monday, the US first lady wrote on X:
"Kimmel's hateful and violent rhetoric is designed to divide our country. His monologue about my family is not comedy - his words are caustic and deepen the political illness in the United States."
“Call for violence”
The reason for the angry posts is that the host joked on his talk show that aired last Thursday that Melania Trump had the appearance of a “widow-to-be” – in a sketch about the upcoming correspondents’ dinner.
Two days later, a gunman opened fire at The Washington Hilton hotel where the correspondents’ dinner was being held. Trump and his colleagues in the White House were the targets.
Both the president and the first lady draw parallels between the prom shooting and what Donald Trump thinks is “a despicable call for violence” on Kimmel’s part.
“Wow, Jimmy Kimmel, who is in no way funny, as his abysmal ratings attest, made a statement on his show that is truly shocking,” Trump writes.
Shutdown
This is not the first time that Jimmy Kimmel has faced Trump's wrath after making a joke on TV.
Last September, the host's talk show was shut down after he commented on the murder of right-wing profile Charlie Kirk and suggested that the killer belonged to Trump's side of politics.
"Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what was needed. Kimmel has ZERO talent," Trump wrote at the time.
A few days later, ABC reversed the decision.
