Shootings in Athens – several injured

Several people have been injured in two shootings in the Greek capital Athens.

Police are searching for a perpetrator in his 90s, Greek media report.

According to authorities, the shooter opened fire at at least two locations in central Athens on Tuesday.

First, one person was injured when the perpetrator fired shots at a social services office. The shooter then moved towards a nearby court building where he opened fire on the ground floor. Several more people were injured there, of which at least three are said to have been taken to hospital.

Greek media write that the suspect is a man in his 90s. He is reported to have thrown wads of paper and envelopes inside the courthouse during the shooting.

The man, who remains at large, was reportedly armed with a shotgun. The weapon has been recovered and seized by police.
