Donald Trump will not lift the blockade against Iran until an agreement is reached on the country's nuclear program, he tells Axios.
At the same time, sources for the news site state that the US Central Command has developed plans for a “short-term but powerful” wave of attacks against Iran to break the deadlock.
At the moment, however, the president reportedly sees a continued blockade as the main means of pressure, although he does not rule out new military strikes.
– The blockade is a little more effective than the bombings. They are choking like a stuffed pig, and it will be worse for them. They must not have nuclear weapons, he says.

Sources: Trump ready for several months of blockade
Donald Trump is ready to continue the blockade of Iranian ports for several months, White House sources told AFP and Axios.
The message was reportedly delivered during a meeting that Trump and other White House officials held with executives in the fossil fuel industry on Tuesday.
The meeting discussed the steps Trump has taken "to relieve pressure on global oil markets, and measures we can take to continue the blockade for months if necessary while minimizing the impact on American consumers," according to AFP's source.
Iran has made it clear that it does not intend to open the Strait of Hormuz until the US blockade is lifted.
