Interruption in US attacks on Iran
For the first time in 13 days, the US military refrained from attacking Iranian targets last night, writes AFP. US President Donald Trump has said that he wants to pause the attacks because the Iranian regime has resumed talks with Washington.
– We are talking to them right now. I think they will become more and more serious as time goes on. For obvious reasons, Trump said at a meeting with the press.
Trump then said that Iran basically has two choices: To make a deal with the US or to face an escalation of violence.
EU delays satellite images from Hormuz after US demands
The EU has decided to delay the release of satellite images showing the area around the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with a US demand, reports Space News.
US companies have previously stopped the publication of satellite images over the region around Iran, as the White House believes that it could make it more difficult for the US to wage war.
– This is a technical measure against possible security risks. It is a common measure that has also been introduced by many other satellite operators, a spokesperson for the European Commission told the newspaper.
Sources: Trump colleagues warned of Iranian assassination plots
US intelligence agencies have warned several of Donald Trump's top advisers that Iran is trying to have them assassinated, sources told the Wall Street Journal.
Several of them have reportedly been advised to stop using private driver services.
At the same time, sources tell the New York Times that it was a threat image linked to Iran that prompted Donald Trump to switch from the new to the older presidential plane when he traveled home from Turkey earlier in July.
According to previous information, the change of aircraft was made on the recommendation of the Secret Service, and sources now state that it was due to a threat that Iran-backed proxy groups were planning some kind of attack.
