Several dead in drone attack in Sudan
Deadly airstrikes against civilians in the state of North Kordofan in Sudan have been carried out, according to the human rights group Emergency Lawyers.
At least 15 people have been killed in at least two drone attacks on several vehicles in North Kordofan in the past two days. All the victims are said to be civilians, of which five were women and several of the cars were transporting water, according to the human rights group.
The airstrikes come at the same time as deadly fighting has broken out in the region.
Witnesses, human rights groups and the UN warn of a bloody offensive with the risk of mass abuses led by the paramilitary RSF against civilians in the state capital El-Obeid.
El-Obeid is a key junction between the capital Khartoum and the Darfur region. Sudan has been plagued by a bloody civil war since April 2023.
