Trump demands control of Greenland again

Donald Trump is once again threatening to take over Greenland. According to the US president, Denmark has failed to invest enough in the self-governing territory.

– Greenland is not helping Denmark. Denmark is not investing enough money to really help Greenland, but it is an important part for the US, says Trump at a press conference at the NATO summit in Ankara and repeats his claim that Greenland is “surrounded by Chinese and Russian ships”.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen comments that Greenland is “of course not for sale”:

– The Greenlanders do not want to be part of the US. They have made that clear.

The relationship between the United States and Greenland and Denmark is tense since Trump has on several occasions expressed demands to take control of Greenland, which is part of the Danish kingdom.
