Far-right demonstration broken up by police

Dutch riot police broke up a far-right demonstration in central The Hague on Saturday evening after it descended into violence.
Police report that 24 people were arrested and that water cannons and dogs were deployed against the crowd. Those arrested are suspected of, among other things, throwing fireworks at the police.
Justice Minister David van Weel stated in a post on X that demonstrators performed Nazi salutes and chanted antisemitic slogans.
"Thanks to all the police officers who are once again standing up for our democratic rule of law," he wrote.
Local authorities banned the protest after it escalated. The approximately 500 demonstrators, who had gathered at Malieveld Park to march through the city, were ordered to disperse.
According to the organizer, the purpose was to protest against immigration and the country's migration policy.
