Macron warns of hybrid attacks against France
President Emmanuel Macron has expressed serious concern that critical infrastructure in France is under threat from Russian hybrid attacks.
Macron’s warnings followed a high-security meeting at the Élysée Palace regarding classified French intelligence. After the meeting, he stated that he had ordered the reinforcement of defenses for key national functions and infrastructure of strategic importance to society.
"The Russian hybrid threat against Europe and France has intensified," Macron said, emphasizing the importance of protecting sectors such as the domestic defense industry.
He also identified sites housing technology-intensive operations as potential targets for Russian drone strikes and cyberattacks.
"The government is preparing a plan to protect our critical infrastructure."
Several prospective presidential candidates attended the high-security meeting. Far-right candidate Marine Le Pen did not participate.
