Report: Ammunition Shortage Following Iran War
US warfare against Iran has led to a shortage of weapons and ammunition. This is confirmed by an independent investigation conducted within the Pentagon.
Both President Donald Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth have denied that the Iran war has caused US stockpiles of materiel to dwindle.
However, a report from the Pentagon’s independent watchdog shows that military stockpiles of weapons and ammunition have decreased sharply, NBC News reports. The shortage is attributed, among other things, to supply chain bottlenecks.
According to the report, the war cost $33.4 billion (equivalent to 326 billion kronor) between its start on February 28 and the end of June. That figure does not include damage to buildings and facilities—costs estimated at several billion dollars.
It does, however, reveal that the ammunition used up to June 30—including drones—cost $22.3 billion.
