Trump to Ukraine: Stop attacking Russian diesel
Ukraine must stop attacking Russian energy facilities where diesel is stored. This is the message from US President Donald Trump, who blames the war in Ukraine for high diesel prices.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy must "stop knocking out the diesel in Russia; it causes fuel shortages," Trump said at a press conference in Ireland.
"We’ve spoken to Zelenskyy about it; there are many other targets, but don't hit the diesel—it hurts the world," Trump said, according to Ireland's RTÉ.
He claims that rising fuel prices globally—and not least in the US—are not a consequence of a war against Iran started by him.
"It’s due to what is happening in Russia and Ukraine," he says.
In July, Russia imposed restrictions on diesel exports to address domestic fuel shortages caused by Ukrainian attacks on the country's energy facilities.
