Kallas on train attack: Russia trying to intimidate
The Russian attack on a train in Ukraine on Sunday—which was en route to Poland—was a "clear attempt to intimidate," according to EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.
"It was clearly a message to the West. But we should do the opposite and show that we are there for Ukraine and that we are not afraid," Kallas said on Monday morning while arriving at a major meeting on Arctic issues in Rovaniemi, northern Finland.
Several former high-ranking Western leaders were on other trains near the site of the blast on Sunday, including Carl Bildt, as well as Finland’s former Prime Minister Sanna Marin and the UK’s former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
However, no one was reportedly injured in the drone attack, which Johnson stated struck "a stationary locomotive."
