Middle East Crisis

Iran War
Sources: Iran resumes ballistic missile production

Iran has resumed the production of ballistic missiles, sources from the US and the Middle East have told the Wall Street Journal.

According to the sources, Iran is utilizing components that were held in storage. Intelligence indicates increased activity around several underground facilities. The sources also state that Iran is constructing new facilities, as several existing ones were damaged in Israeli and US attacks.

"One would have to be incredibly naive to believe that Iran is not rebuilding its missile production capabilities," says analyst Tal Inbar.

Houthi Rebels
Houthis: Saudi Arabia attacks targets in Yemen

Saudi Arabia has launched 64 airstrikes against targets linked to the Houthi rebels—an Iranian-backed militia group—in Yemen. This was reported by a spokesperson for the group, according to AFP.

The airstrikes follow shortly after the Houthis captured the strategically important port city of Mocha; this move could grant the group control over the Bab al-Mandab Strait, which serves as an alternative route to the Strait of Hormuz.

The civil war between the Houthis and Yemen's official government had been on hold since 2022, but hostilities now risk flaring up again. Analysts believe that all parties to the conflict have an interest in escalation, the New York Times reports.
