Iran has resumed the manufacture of ballistic missiles in underground facilities, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Production relies primarily on components from existing stockpiles, several sources in the US and the Middle East told the newspaper.

Assembly operations are less extensive than before the war due to damage to the country's industrial facilities and the US blockade of Iranian ports.

A US source told the newspaper that Iran likely resumed production on a small scale after reaching an understanding with the US and President Donald Trump in mid-June.

According to intelligence, activity is underway at several underground facilities, including one in Khojir, just east of Tehran. These reports cast doubt on claims by the US and Israel that Iran's missile industry has been virtually crippled.
