Following protests: Macron promises action
Following weeks of protests in France, President Emmanuel Macron promised on Monday to take action to address the students' demands.
"I have asked the government to address the demands that lie at the heart of the protest movement," Macron said during a visit to Marseille.
"The Prime Minister and other ministers will present several major, concrete measures this afternoon."
Among other things, the government is expected to announce changes to "Parcoursup"—the platform used to manage higher education admissions. The platform is unpopular among students because it employs an "algorithmic selection" process that puts some students at a disadvantage.
Student representatives intend to continue calling for demonstrations, reports BFMTV.
"We need concrete results," one representative said, according to the television channel.
