New deadly attacks in Yemen
Saudi forces reportedly killed several people in airstrikes on Saturday targeting the Houthi-controlled capital, Sanaa, and surrounding areas.
At the same time, the city of Aden—where the internationally recognized government is based—also came under attack.
The Yemeni government confirmed to the news agency Saba that the Coast Guard headquarters, along with another facility belonging to the agency in Aden, had been struck.
The Iranian-backed Houthi rebels also claimed to have attacked three airports—including one in the capital, Riyadh—as well as two oil facilities, an oil pipeline, and an airbase in Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense stated that debris from two intercepted ballistic missiles, launched by the rebels, fell in the vicinity of the two holy cities of Mecca and Medina.
The Houthis denied these claims, describing the reports that they had targeted Mecca and Medina as "a major and blatant lie."
According to Houthi-affiliated media, at least four people were killed and several others injured when a house was struck during an airstrike on Sanaa. Additionally, six women and one child were reportedly killed in a separate attack on a cement factory in Sanaa.
Furthermore, the rebels reported that five members of the same family were killed in a Saudi strike on the port city of Hodeidah.
As the conflict in the Middle East escalated, the war in Yemen also flared up again in July. This follows a ceasefire that had been in place since 2022.
Both Saudi Arabia and the Yemeni government have recently been subjected to persistent attacks.
