Swedish-Romanian sect leader arrested in giant French raid
A Swedish-Romanian leader of the international yoga sect Atman and 40 other members have been arrested in several police raids in and around Paris on Tuesday, several media reports.
The 71-year-old sect leader Gregorian Bivolaru, who according to Expressen was granted asylum in Sweden in 2005, is suspected of human smuggling, kidnapping and rape, among other things.
26 women held in "deplorable conditions" were freed in the crackdown, according to the BBC. The movement has been under investigation since July following allegations that members were forced to have sex and record porn.
175 police officers took part in Tuesday's operations.

Source: Former members raised the alarm about indoctrination
The yoga sect raided by French police on Tuesday came under investigation after former members raised the alarm that people were being indoctrinated and manipulated into committing sexual acts. This is stated by a source for AP.
The source states that during the crackdown on the sect, which was founded in the 90s and is called Atman or Misa, evidence was found that members were, among other things, forced to record porn in order to raise money for the movement.
AP writes that these are "activities" that took place under the pretext that it was tantric yoga. The 71-year-old Swedish-Romanian man Gregorian Bivolaru is singled out as a "tantra guru" and the leader of the sect. He and 40 other members have been arrested.
