Hamas and Israel open to extend agreement
Both Hamas and Israel are open to extending the current temporary truce, the New York Times reports.
Hamas writes in a statement on Sunday that it is trying to extend the agreed four-day period and increase the number of Palestinians released from Israeli prisons.
Shortly thereafter, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a video statement welcoming an extension of the ceasefire and pointing out that there is already a plan for this.
As well as the pause in fighting, the existing agreement – negotiated with the help of the US, Qatar and Egypt – includes humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Netanyahu visited Gaza: "Nothing can stop us"
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has visited Gaza for the first time since the war broke out on October 7, Haaretz reports. During the visit, he met Israeli soldiers and was shown around one of the Hamas tunnels.
In a video published by Netanyahu's office, the prime minister recalls that Israel has three goals in the war: eliminate Hamas, bring back the hostages and ensure that Gaza does not pose a threat to Israel again.
- Nothing will stop us, and we are convinced that we have the power, the strength, the will and the determination to achieve all the goals of the war, and we will do that, he says.
Netanyahu is the first Israeli prime minister to travel to Gaza in two decades, writes the Jerusalem Post.

Details: Israeli ship hijacked by unknown perpetrators
An Israeli tanker has been hijacked outside the port city of Aden in Yemen, according to the private security company Ambrey, according to AP.
It is still unclear who is behind the attack. Aden is controlled by the Yemeni government, which, with the support of Saudi Arabia, is fighting against rebels who are in turn supported by Iran.
- The US Navy is acting in response to the incident and has asked ships to stay away from the area, sources within Ambrey told AP.
The US Navy patrols the waters around the Middle East, but has yet to comment.
On Saturday, another ship with links to Israel was attacked with what is believed to have been a suicide drone. According to the United States, there are indications that that attack was carried out by Iran.
