Despair in the wake of the mystery: "Not received a penny in compensation"
Almost ten years after flight MH370 disappeared without a trace somewhere over the Indian Ocean, a Chinese compensation process is being launched against Malaysia Airlines. This is reported by several media.
AP reports that some of the relatives refused to accept the compensation that the company previously offered because they refused to believe that the plane had disappeared. Instead, there was a widespread belief that it had been taken to an unknown location and that their relatives were still alive. According to the lawsuits, the families believe the airline ended the search too soon.
- The family members have received neither an apology nor a penny in compensation, Jiang Hui, whose mother disappeared with the plane, told CNN.
A total of 40 families have sued the airline, Boeing and the manufacturer of the plane's jet engine. They are demanding compensation, a formal apology, new psychological assistance to the family members and that the search for the plane be resumed.
239 people were on board the plane traveling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. 153 of them were Chinese nationals.

China: We are following the MH370 process closely
Chinese authorities write in a public statement that they are "closely following" the lawsuit against Malaysian Airlines, among others, which is currently being taken up by a court in Beijing. This is reported by AP.
"We hope that the parties will maintain close communication and handle this properly," writes the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
There are many theories about the fate of the missing plane, such as technical failure or an attempted hijacking. Few pieces of wreckage have been found and no evidence has been able to provide clues as to what really happened.
239 people were on board the plane traveling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014. 153 of them were Chinese nationals.
