Task: The wife of Ukraine's spy chief has been poisoned
Marianna Budanova, the wife of Ukraine's intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov, is suspected of having been poisoned with heavy metals, according to the Ukrainian news site Babel. An anonymous source with transparency confirms the information to AFP.
Budanova, who is an adviser to Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko, has reportedly been taken to hospital after what is believed to be an attempted murder.
Babel writes that the substances found at Budanova do not occur naturally in everyday life or the military, which may indicate intentional poisoning.
The site also states that "several" other people from the intelligence service GUR are being treated for suspected poisoning.
According to Ukrainska Pravda, Budanova is suspected of having ingested the poison through the food. She is reported to be doing better after treatment.
