China: Recognizes Taliban rule if it changes
If the Taliban want China's recognition, they must change their way of governing, says Foreign Ministry Chairman Wang Wenbin, according to Bloomberg.
- We expect Afghanistan to respond to the expectations of the international community and apply a sane policy.
At the same time, Wenbin emphasizes that China does not think that the international community should exclude "friend" Afghanistan.
A handful of countries, such as China, Pakistan and Russia, have accepted diplomats representing the Taliban regime in their countries, despite not formally recognizing the regime. China has also entered into an agreement with the Taliban to extract oil from the Amu Darya river basin in the north.

Malala: The Taliban make it illegal to be a girl
The Taliban regime in Afghanistan has made it illegal to be a girl. That's what Peace Laureate Malala Yousafzai says during a speech at a ceremony marking the tenth anniversary of Nelson Mandela's death.
Girls and women's opportunities for education and work have been severely limited since the Taliban took back power in August 2021.
They are also banned from visiting parks, amusement parks and gyms.
According to Malala Yousafzai, this has led to many girls suffering from depression and suicidal thoughts.
- Our first demand is to call the regime in Afghanistan what it really is. It is gender apartheid, she says.
