Momentum for Haley ahead of the "most important" debate yet
Nikki Haley has a tailwind ahead of next week's Republican debate - the fourth in a row. The Hill writes that the former UN ambassador received a boost after previous debates and that she now has the chance to take the position as the clear second behind Donald Trump.
With just weeks to go before the primaries begin, the stakes are being raised, according to Republican strategists. Both for Haley and for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis who had a long downward trend in the polls.
- In some ways, it is the most important debate to date, says strategist Justin Sayfie.
According to the latest tally from the statistics site FiveThirtyEight, however, DeSantis has maintained a narrow lead over Haley.

"Abandon Biden" - Muslim campaign in several key states
American Muslims from a number of wave master states are gathering on Saturday in Michigan to launch a campaign under the slogan "abandon Biden" - as a reaction to what they believe is a wrong stance in the war between Hamas and Israel. That's what Axios writes.
The scope is unclear and initially the campaign will primarily be seen in social media, but the site writes that it is a voter group whose votes can have a great impact on the outcome of next year's presidential election.
- The Democrats need to think about whether they want our votes or not, says organizer Jaylani Hussein.
He also admits that there is a conflict on the issue because at the same time there is great dissatisfaction with Trump, following the ex-president's controversial travel ban from several Muslim countries during his time in the White House.

The charges against George Santos
The party battle to replace Santos may hint at 2024
The
fact that Republican George Santos was voted out of the House of
Representatives in the United States opens up a partisan political
battle for his seat - which could become a temperature gauge before the
2024 election, writes Politico.
Santos was elected to New York's third district on Long Island and now all eyes are on him. A by-election for his replacement is expected to be held in February.
According to Politico, the Democrats will probably run with Tom Souzzi, who sat in Congress before. The
Republicans seem to have several potential candidates, such as former
police officer Mike Sapraicone and IDF veteran Mazi Melesa Pilip.
The outcome is described as being able to give a hint as to where the election year is headed in general. Either
it could be a democratic statement of strength - or the signal could be
that the Republicans stand on the podium despite the accusations
against Santos.
