Released Russian hostage signs Putin's new Hamas line
Hamas has released three Russian citizens kidnapped from Israel during the October 7 attack, the Washington Post reports. It must have taken place according to a separate agreement, at the request of Russian diplomats during Hamas's visit to Moscow.
WP writes that the special treatment of Russians is one in a series of signs of increased alignment between the Kremlin and Hamas. Another example mentioned is that President Vladimir Putin received a delegation from the terrorist group at the end of October, while it became a pariah in the rest of the world.
According to Russia expert Ruslan Suleymanov, Moscow's invitation lends legitimacy to Hamas.
- So the releases are a gesture from Hamas to highlight Putin's special role.
But Russia's swing is not risk-free, according to analysts the newspaper spoke to. The action is described as having already created a rift between Putin and Benjamin Nethanyahu, who was previously considered one of Putin's best friends among world leaders. It affects Russia's ability to maintain the position of mediator with all the countries of the Middle East.

NBC: Babies left to die in Gaza hospital
Abandoned infant bodies have been found in the evacuated Al Nasr Children's Hospital in northern Gaza, NBC News reports.
Staff were forced to leave the hospital around November 10 and journalist Mohammed Baalousha, of the Emirati television channel al Mashhad, has visited the abandoned building and filmed during the temporary ceasefire. NBC has seen the raw material.
The video shows how three to five babies are left alone in hospital beds. The bodies appear to have begun to rot, writes NBC.
The head of the hospital, Mustafa al Kahlot, told the broadcaster that it was the staff's judgment that five babies could not be taken when the hospital was evacuated under heavy shelling, as several of them were born prematurely and dependent on oxygen machines.
NBC has not been able to confirm what has happened since the staff left the hospital, but two medical examiners who have separately seen the footage say the degree of decay appears to be consistent in time with the two weeks that have passed since the footage was shot.

Denmark deploys military to guard synagogues
The Danish government has assigned the military to help the police guard Jewish and Israeli sites, such as Copenhagen's synagogue and the Israeli embassy, writes Bloomberg.
According to the government, the police are heavily burdened after a series of large-scale demonstrations about the war between Hamas and Israel, as well as Koran burnings.
- The terrorist threat against Denmark is serious and the conflict in the Middle East has led to an unacceptable increase in anti-Semitism and greater insecurity among Jews in Denmark, says Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen, according to the news agency.

USA: Israel risks driving civilians "into the arms of the enemy"
A tactical victory for Israel in the war against Hamas can still end in a strategic defeat. This is what US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin says at a conference in the US, according to Politico.
The defense minister likens the situation to that of the American wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
- If Israel does not do everything it can to protect civilians, it can lead to driving them into the arms of the enemy.
