Israel: Attacked ships have no connection with us
The two ships that the Huthi rebels claim to have attacked have no connection to Israel, Israeli defense spokesman Daniel Hagari said, according to Reuters.
Shortly after the United States announced that an American warship and at least one commercial vessel had been fired upon in the Red Sea, the Huthi rebels claimed to have attacked two Israeli ships in the area.
- Today, missiles were fired at two commercial ships with no connection to Israel. I will repeat it so that it is clear: without any connection to the State of Israel, says Hagari.
The Houthi rebels are active in Yemen and have strong links to Iran. Since the war between Hamas and Israel broke out, they have carried out several attacks on ships in the Red Sea.

American warship attacked in the Red Sea
The American battleship USS Carney and several commercial ships have been attacked in the Red Sea, the Pentagon says according to AP. It is unclear who is behind the attacks and whether any significant damage has been caused.
The Houthi rebels state according to Reuters that their fleet has attacked two Israeli ships in the area on Sunday. One ship is said to have been attacked with a drone and the other with a rocket, the Islamist rebel group says.
Since the war between Hamas and Israel broke out, several ships in the Red Sea have been attacked. Last week, Huthi rebels hijacked an Israeli cargo ship.
AP calls Sunday's attack "a potential huge escalation" of the conflict in the Middle East.
The British Defense Forces have also reported that ships in the area have been attacked. Before that, they stated that drone activity from Yemen, where the Huthi rebels operate, had been detected.
