Starmer praises his own reforms: We chose the workers
The British Prime Minister is using a series of reforms that come into force on Monday to attack the opposition, reports the radio channel LBC.
According to Starmer, all parties except Labour lack either the political will or the economic credibility required to improve the situation of the country's workers.
- They warned of high costs, of disruption, and said it was the wrong time. But again we chose a different path. We chose the working people, says Starmer according to The Guardian.
Among the reforms that come into force on Monday is a barely five percent increase in the state pension and sickness benefit from the first day.
The Greens dismiss Starmer: He was dragged here
The British Green Party says that Keir Starmer's investments in workers, which come into force on Monday, are watered down and came about under duress. The Guardian writes.
“The truth is that Labour was forced to make these improvements to workers’ rights, which are also being watered down by corporate lobbyists,” says a Green Party spokesman.
The Greens, who have described themselves as the only party for the British working class, have beaten Labour in both the public opinion polls and local elections.
In the latest Yougov opinion poll, the Greens are tied for second place with the Conservatives. Reform UK comes first and the governing Labour party comes fourth.
