Middle East crisis Oil market

Analysis: Trump's swearing shows he is desperate

With his swearing and new threats against Iran, Donald Trump is clearly showing that he is desperate. This is what Danish TV2's Agnete Wismer says after the president's post on Truth Social in which he called Iran "crazy assholes".

- It does not appear that the American president is in control, she says.

Trump is demanding that Iran open the important Strait of Hormuz, which has been closed in practice since the Iran war began. Due to soaring oil prices, Iran is the trump card, writes David Goldman in CNN.

The US is certainly not that dependent on oil from the Middle East, but that is not the problem.

"The problem is that the US is not immune from the price shock of the global oil market", he writes.

James Matthews on Sky News, just like Agnete Wismer, interprets that Trump is feeling the pressure because of the closed Strait of Hormuz. When you read Trump's swearing and threats, you get the feeling that the president is losing.

- If the post reflects what is going on in Trump's head, it feels unstable, he tells his own channel.

Iran to counterattack after Trump's harsh words: "Cannot analyze him"

The Iranian regime is reacting to Donald Trump's use of harsh words when he again threatened widespread attacks on Sunday.

- It seems that Trump has become a phenomenon that neither Iran nor the United States can analyze, says Culture Minister Sayed Reza Salihi-Amiri to the AP.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump called Iran "crazy assholes" and demanded that the country open the important Strait of Hormuz. He also suggests that the United States will carry out attacks on energy facilities and Iranian bridges on Tuesday.

This prompted Iranian President Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf to roar:

"Your irresponsible actions are dragging the United States into a living hell," he said in a statement.
