Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginiene is resigning after changes in the ruling coalition.

Ruginiene's government collapsed earlier in June after her party, the social democratic LSDP, ended its cooperation with the populist party Nemuno Ausra due to anti-Semitic rhetoric from one of its leaders.

- Despite all the difficulties, we have much to be proud of. Each of you has contributed significantly to the welfare of our state and to improving the lives of our citizens, Ruginiene told her ministers on Tuesday.

- Today we make the decision to resign and return the powers of the government to the President of the Republic, she continues.
