ECB vs. inflation
ECB warning: Inflation could remain above target for a long time
There is a risk that inflation will remain above the 2 percent target “for quite some time” to come. This is what ECB Chief Economist Philip Lane told Bloomberg.
He warns that several forward-looking factors point to continued inflationary pressure in the coming months.
“In this environment, our focus remains clear: to ensure that inflation stabilizes at our 2 percent target over the medium term,” he says.
Earlier in June, the ECB raised the deposit rate for the first time since 2023.
Business salaries
Top executives with giant packages at the highest level since 2021
The number of US CEOs with compensation packages over $100 million rose last year to the highest level since 2021, the WSJ reports.
Almost a dozen executives now have compensation packages exceeding $200 million. After Elon Musk's giant package of $158 billion, the CEO of the real estate company Welltower, Shankh Mitras, is valued at $821 million, whose compensation largely consists of shares.
The median compensation for listed CEOs on the S&P500 also rose to a record high of $17.9 million, with half of the managers receiving salary increases of at least 9.8 percent compared to the previous year.
The future of defense
Faxander's defense fund invests in drone aircraft
The defense fund Gungnir Capital, with former Sandvik CEO Olof Faxander as one of the co-founders, has made its third investment. DI writes.
Specifically, it concerns Danish Acodyne, which is developing unmanned electric cargo aircraft.
- The idea is to be able to replace manned helicopters, and not expose any crew to risk in a defense context, says CEO Max Villman.
The plan is to invest in around 25 companies, with a particular focus on the Nordic region and Ukraine. The fund is now approaching 10 million in residual capital, the newspaper writes.
