Iran and the states on the other side of the Persian Gulf are to meet in a first attempt at reconciliation after the major war in the Middle East, a diplomatic source told the AFP news agency.

The talks are expected to take place in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh, according to the source. It is not clear when, but they will be held completely separately from the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States.

In addition to these plans, Qatar's Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani is in Oman to prepare talks between Iran, Oman and several neighboring countries on how maritime traffic through the sensitive Strait of Hormuz should continue in the future, another source told AFP.
