Huthi: Stop all Israeli shipping in the Red Sea

The Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen say they will not allow Israeli shipping in the Red Sea, Reuters reports.

This risks making the situation even more difficult for global trade, as the Red Sea is an important shipping route that has become an alternative to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

The stop does not apply to all commercial traffic in the Red Sea, but only to ships that the Houthis believe are linked to Israel, according to a source within the Houthis.

A shipping source says that the statement will make all ships think carefully about how smart it is to take the route through the Red Sea.

– It is probably better to go around Africa and pay the fuel bill, says the source.

Many flee Beirut again: “It’s a constant worry”

After Israel has once again attacked Beirut’s southern suburbs, 40-year-old Ahmad and his family have been forced to flee the city again.

– It’s a constant worry. Many here sleep in cars, he tells DN.

He says it’s hard to sleep at night, as explosions make the family believe the bombings have started again.

Many who flee have difficulty finding somewhere to live. Temporary shelters are cramped and lack air conditioning. The safe areas in Lebanon are becoming fewer and fewer, says Ahmad.
