Iran war
Attacks between Iran and the US – explosions in Kuwait
Iran's Revolutionary Guards say they attacked "hostile bases" in the Middle East overnight, AFP reports. This comes after the US said it had fired on radar facilities in Iran and shot down drones sent towards the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the US military command Centcom, Iran has fired ballistic missiles at Kuwait and Bahrain. AFP reporters report that explosions have been heard in both countries, including near Kuwait's international airport.
The attacks are taking place despite the fact that on paper there is a ceasefire in the war in Iran.
Peace talks
Trump: Agreement with Iran is delayed because they are proud
The reason a peace agreement with Iran is taking so long is because Iran is "proud and strong". This is what US President Donald Trump says on NBC's "Meet the Press".
– There are things they never thought they would do that they will have to do. They have no choice and it will take some time, says Trump.
He says he now estimates that Iran has just over 20 percent of the number of missiles the country had when the war started.
On paper, there is a ceasefire in the war, but as recently as Saturday night, attacks have taken place.
West Bank
Seven-month-old Sam shot dead in a car in the West Bank
Seven-month-old Sam Fahd Abu Haikal was killed on Friday evening when Israeli soldiers opened fire on a car in the West Bank, writes Haaretz. The boy's father, Fahd Abu Haikal, describes to the newspaper how he and his family were waved at by a soldier at a roadblock while they were on their way to visit relatives in Hebron.
- I stopped the car and put my hands on the steering wheel. Immediately after that, they fired at the car.
According to Fahd Abu Haikal, who is a lecturer at the University of Bethlehem, the bullet went through his hand and then hit the boy who was sitting in the back seat on his mother's lap. The boy was taken to hospital but his life could not be saved.
“I demand, and I expect, if there is any conscience, any law, any morality, that the soldier who fired the shots will be held accountable for his actions,” said Fahd Abu Haikal.
The Israeli military said soldiers perceived a vehicle accelerating towards them and fired a shot. It “expresses deep sorrow for the harm caused to individuals who were not involved.”
