Middle East crisis Israel-Hezbollah

Soldiers killed in attack on Lebanon: “Mistake”

Three Lebanese soldiers have been killed in an Israeli attack on a vehicle in the Nabatieh area, writes The Times of Israel.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun calls the incident aggressive and barbaric. The attack is a “flagrant violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty,” he writes on X.

The Israeli military, the IDF, confirms the attack but says it believed it was attacking a Hezbollah vehicle.

“The IDF is reviewing the incident, and lessons will be learned from it,” writes X, adding that Israel is fighting Hezbollah, not Lebanon.

It has only been a few days since Israel and Lebanon agreed to extend the ceasefire.

Several dead in Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon

More than 20 people have been killed in attacks on various parts of southern Lebanon on Friday, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, according to AFP.

These include attacks on the cities of Tyre and Zebdine, but according to state-run Lebanese media, Israel is said to have attacked more than 40 targets during the day. At least five people were killed in an attack on the Nabatieh region, including a medic.

Early on Friday, the Israeli military IDF issued a call for civilians in three Lebanese towns to leave the area.

Meanwhile, the Iran-backed Shia militia Hezbollah announced that it had attacked Israeli troops in southern Lebanon. The IDF stated that two soldiers had been seriously injured.
