Israel promises to intensify its military operation in Lebanon
Israel will continue to push forward its military operation in Lebanon, military spokeswoman Effie Defrin said in a statement according to AFP.
– The IDF will continue military operations throughout Lebanon and intensify operations against the terrorist organization Hezbollah, Defrin said.
Iran fired missiles at Israel on Sunday evening, in response to the IDF's attacks on the Lebanese capital Beirut.
Defrin said in his statement that the Iranian regime "made a serious mistake" by firing the missiles.
Israel attacks Beirut during the current ceasefire
Israel has attacked Beirut's southern suburbs days after a ceasefire agreement came into effect. This is reported by AP, among others.
According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the attacks are in response to the Iranian-backed Shiite militia Hezbollah attacking northern Israel.
On Thursday, the two sides extended the ceasefire, in an agreement negotiated with the help of mediators from the United States. However, Hezbollah refused to join the ceasefire.
Israel has continued its military operation in southern Lebanon, where the IDF has both carried out drone attacks and entered with ground troops.
