– Trump has asked Russia for compromises, and Russia is ready, says Putin according to Reuters.

According to Putin, Russia has every opportunity to achieve its military goals, but can still consider making peace.

– We need to strengthen our air defense, he says according to AFP.

Zelenskyj wants to meet Putin: “The leaders must resolve the most important issues”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj wants to meet Vladimir Putin in a third country. He writes this in a long, personal and at times emotional open letter to the Russian president.

“It is the leaders who must resolve the most important issues,” Zelensky writes, referring to previous failed negotiations that have been watered down between working groups and shuttle diplomacy.

He also takes a hint at Trump and Putin’s talks in Alaska last year: “You see for yourself that Ukrainian and European issues are not being decided in Anchorage,” he writes, but suggests that both Europe and the United States should stand as security guarantors.

“If you do not conclude that it is time to end the war, Ukraine will continue to fight for its survival. But you will also have to fight harder for yours,” Zelensky writes, pointing to the country’s history: “When Russia gets tired, there will be upheaval.”
