One killed in suspected terror attack in Israel
At least one person has been killed and several others injured in shootings in Israel, Israeli media reports. The incident is being investigated as a suspected terror attack. Two suspected shooters have been shot dead by security forces.
According to Haaretz, shootings have been reported at three locations near Israel’s “security barrier” against the occupied West Bank. The perpetrators are said to have first shot people at a gas station near the town of Kokhav Ya’ir. They then went to the settlement of Tzur Yitzhak, where two more people were injured. Before being stopped by police, they then went to Tzur Natan, where they shot and killed one man and wounded another.
Residents in the area have been urged to stay indoors. The military is now sending soldiers to the area around Kokhav Ya’ir.
Witnesses heard automatic fire: “Never seen anything like it”
Several people witnessed the shooting at a gas station in the Israeli town of Kokhav Ya’ir near the occupied West Bank, writes Haaretz. One witness tells the newspaper how he heard several shots and then saw a man fall to the ground. Another man describes automatic fire.
– I can’t remember anything like this happening here in 40 years, he says, adding that he doesn’t feel afraid in the area.
