Peace talks with Iran are continuing despite repeated clashes, claims the US president. According to Donald Trump, Iran's supreme leader is involved in the decision-making.

- I would love to meet him. We will probably meet at some point, depending on how everything goes, Trump says of Mojtaba Khamenei in the New York Post podcast Pod Force One.

Mojtaba Khamenei, whose father Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed on the first day of the war, has not been seen in public since he was appointed as the new supreme leader of Iran.

In the podcast, Trump says he is optimistic about reaching an agreement with Iran "fairly soon", despite the fact that the US and Iran exchange attacks almost daily.

The president also claims that Iran has agreed not to acquire nuclear weapons. Tehran has long denied that the regime is pursuing nuclear weapons, but is believed to be sitting on highly enriched uranium needed for weapons production.

– We will not have any nuclear weapons and a lot of other good things will happen, says Trump.
