Prime Minister: All available resources being deployed
The Japanese government will deploy all available resources in the rescue efforts after the strong earthquakes in southern Japan. This is what Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said, according to the Asahi.
She stated that the authorities are still mapping the extent of the damage and announced that a government investigation team has been sent to the affected area.
“Protect yourselves and seek safe places,” she urged.
The earthquake, which measured 7.1 in magnitude, struck late in the afternoon local time. Reports of deaths have been received, but an exact number has not yet been determined. Several people are also reported to have been injured and in Kumamoto, people are trapped in a shopping mall that collapsed.
