Reactions to the 2020 US election
Republicans worried about Trump's speech: "Scared to death"
Several people within the Republican Party are worried about what Donald Trump will say during the address to the nation that he will give on Friday night. This is stated by a source who previously worked in the Trump administration for Politico.
The president has said in advance that the speech will be about "free and fair elections", which has led several media outlets to believe that he will talk about election fraud and claim that he actually won the 2020 presidential election.
- Those I have spoken to are scared to death, says Politico's source and emphasizes that several Republicans think that Trump should talk about economic policy instead of addressing old grievances - not least because the American mid-term elections are coming up this fall.
Trump has repeatedly claimed that he was robbed of his victory in the 2020 presidential election, but has never been able to present any evidence of voter fraud, writes USA Today.
TV channels weigh the risks of broadcasting Trump's speech
US television channels must weigh the risks between broadcasting Trump's speech to the nation or not, writes Axios.
In the speech, Trump is expected to make new claims about voter fraud during the 2020 election, when he lost to Joe Biden.
If the channels broadcast the speech, they risk showing disinformation about the election. But if they do not, they face sharp criticism from the Trump administration, which has repeatedly confronted the media and their editorial decisions.
The channels ABC, NBC and CBS have chosen not to comment on whether they will show the speech in its entirety.

US tightens visa rules for students and journalists
The Trump administration is tightening visa rules for international students and foreign journalists, Reuters reports.
With the new rules, a student visa cannot be valid for longer than four years. A journalist visa, which previously could be valid for several years, will now have an upper limit of 240 days. If the journalist is a Chinese citizen, the limit is 90 days.
Doctoral and master's students will not be able to start at a new school without approval or change their "educational goals". The time students have to leave the US after completing their education will be shortened from 60 days to 30 days.
