Middle East Crisis Iran War

Trump's statement: "What should I do? Bomb Iran some more?"

Tensions remain high between the US and Iran, Reuters reports. Donald Trump and his administration have threatened that the country will impose "the toughest sanctions in history" on Iran on Monday.

At an election rally on Saturday night, the president called the strategically important Strait of Hormuz American territory. He also used a flippant tone when talking about the government's efforts to bring down the price of oil.

- It's Friday night. We have plenty of time, right? What the hell am I supposed to do? Go back and bomb Iran some more? he said, according to CNN.

Iran is reacting strongly to threats of new US sanctions, saying that such measures would violate international law. President Masoud Pezeshkian believes that Iran has the upper hand.

- The whole world has recognized our victory and the US is hated, he claims, according to AP.

Iranian President: Time to End War with US

It is time to end the months-long war with the US while Iran has the upper hand. This was stated by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at a meeting on Friday, according to news agencies.

Talks between the enemies have reached a deadlock. At the same time, Tehran still keeps the strategically important Strait of Hormuz partially closed, while Washington maintains its naval counter-blockade against Iran.

“It is better that we end the war now, while we are in a position of strength and dignity,” Pezeshkian said.

The statement comes a day after US President Donald Trump threatened Iran with an “economic D-Day.”
