Trump allowed to re-carve on White House ballroom
Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts announced on Friday that US President Donald Trump can continue building his ballroom in the White House.
The controversial construction has previously been stopped by an appeals court, citing that Congress must first approve the ballroom.
Trump raged in a long post on Truth Social that the party venue is being built “to protect our country”. Invited reporters reported on Wednesday that construction then continued despite the ban.
On Friday, Supreme Court Justice Roberts announced that the construction stoppage was temporarily lifted.
The East Wing of the White House will be demolished in the fall of 2025. Trump claims that the ballroom is being paid for by private financiers, but media reports that half of the costs of around six billion kronor come from taxpayer funds.
