Netanyahu’s new enemy sign: Iran, Hezbollah – and Mamdani

Iran’s supreme leader, the head of the terrorist group Hezbollah – and the mayor of New York. On a new billboard in central Tel Aviv, Benjamin Netanyahu’s party places Zohran Mamdani among some of Israel’s main opponents, reports The Guardian.

Netanyahu himself has shared a picture of the Likud sign on social media. But why is the mayor in this company? The answer is twofold, reports CNN.

On the one hand, Mamdani and Netanyahu have long been at odds with each other. The mayor has been a vocal critic of Israel's war in Gaza and wants Netanyahu to be tried for war crimes in The Hague.

On the other hand, the billboards mark a clear shift in Netanyahu's campaign strategy. Ahead of previous elections, he himself has posed on election posters alongside world leaders such as Donald Trump. But as his friends' popularity has declined in Israel, the focus is now on his opponents.
