Israeli army investigates fatal shooting of girl

The fate of the little girl Hind Rajab shocked the world. She was found dead next to her relatives after their car was shot at while they were trying to escape an Israeli attack in Gaza.

More than two years later, the Israeli military is opening a criminal investigation into the incident.

"I'm so scared. Please call someone to come get me," Hind Rajab said in a desperate phone call to the Palestinian Red Crescent after the attack.

Her body was found two weeks later.

“Following a review of the circumstances and due to alleged shortcomings in the coordination of the Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance, a decision has been made to open a criminal investigation into the incident,” the Israeli army wrote in a statement on Wednesday.

An attack in which 15 Palestinian medics were killed in May last year will also be investigated, the army wrote.
