After corruption scandal: New Prosecutor General in Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Anton Kovalskyj as acting Prosecutor General.
Until now, Kovalskyj has served as the chief prosecutor for the Khmelnytskyi region, reports The Kyiv Independent.
The appointment follows the resignation last week of the previous Prosecutor General, Ruslan Kravtjenko, amid allegations of corruption. According to the two anti-corruption agencies NABU and SAPO, one of Kravtjenko’s subordinates ran a network that laundered money obtained through telephone fraud.
Ukraine is currently being rocked by widespread corruption scandals, with several of President Zelenskyy’s close associates implicated and forced to resign.
