Frederiksen hopeful about Greenland talks with the US
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen says she is optimistic that talks with the US could lead to a resolution of the dispute regarding Greenland's future.
The situation stems from repeated threats by US President Donald Trump to take control of the island.
In January, a working group comprising representatives from Denmark, the US, and Greenland was established to try to find a solution to the conflict. Since then, very little information regarding the negotiations has been released.
"The working group is continuing its efforts, so it is too early to draw any conclusions, but I am quite optimistic that we can find a way forward," Frederiksen said during a meeting in Finland on Monday regarding security in the Arctic.
According to media reports, the US wants to establish three new military bases in southern Greenland, in addition to the existing American base in the north.
