Sources: US to sell Israel 40,000 heavy bombs

The Trump administration has approved the largest arms package for Israel in years, according to sources cited by the *New York Times* and the *Washington Post*.

The package is valued at the equivalent of 27 billion kronor and includes, among other items, 40,000 bombs weighing one ton each. Israel is also authorized to purchase 20,000 I-2000 Penetrator warheads.

The bombs in question—the MK-84 and BLU-117—have been used hundreds of times by the Israeli military in Gaza and Lebanon and have drawn heavy international criticism due to the civilian casualties they cause.

The US is reducing military aid to Europe and the Middle East and shifting resources to South American countries with right-leaning, pro-Trump governments, according to reports by TT.

Military aid equivalent to approximately 500 million kronor is being withdrawn from Slovakia, North Macedonia, Tunisia, and Iraq. These funds are being reallocated to Panama, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia.

The US State Department states that the funds will be used to "combat narco-terrorism" and enhance security at the Panama Canal.

Trump: Closing the center until it’s named after me

A judge has once again blocked Donald Trump from putting his name on the prestigious Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., US media reports.

Trump’s hand-picked board is responding by immediately closing the center, citing its "critical" structural and financial condition. They point, among other things, to pieces of the ceiling falling into the foyer earlier in September.

"The renovation and remodeling—a massive and complex undertaking—cannot begin until the D.C. court approves the name selected by the board," Trump writes on Truth Social.

Unless the center is renamed, the work will not commence, he adds.

The White House wants to rename the center the "Trump Kennedy Center" to acknowledge Trump’s financial contributions to the planned two-year renovation.

Stubb: "Trump has been very good for NATO"

Donald Trump’s second term has been positive for NATO, despite the president’s repeated criticism of the defense alliance. This is according to Finnish President Alexander Stubb, speaking in an extensive interview with AFP.

"I think he has been very good for NATO in the sense that member countries have increased their defense spending, which is important for a border nation like Finland," he says.

Regarding cooperation in the Arctic, Stubb says he "definitely" views the US as a partner, despite Trump’s expressed interest in Greenland.

"The other side of the coin is that Americans are finally beginning to understand the importance of the Arctic," he says.
