Canada's Speaker resigns - invited and hailed Nazi
The Speaker of Canada's House of Commons, Anthony Rota, announces that he is leaving his post, AP reports.
In connection with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj visiting the House of Commons on Friday, Rota invited 98-year-old Ukrainian war veteran Jaroslav Hunka and called him a "hero". Hunka then received two standing ovations.
It later turned out that Hunka fought in a volunteer unit in Adolf Hitler's Waffen SS during World War II. Rota says he was unaware of this and apologizes for the pain it has caused, including to Canada's Jews.
- I take full responsibility for my actions, says Rota in connection with his resignation.

US Defense Chief Mark Milley retires
US Defense Chief Mark Milley is in his last week on the job before retirement. He has had four stressful years on the job with the pandemic, the war in Ukraine, the US's messy withdrawal from Afghanistan and the Chinese spy balloon.
Meanwhile, he has made himself loved and hated. When Donald Trump appointed Milley, he probably liked his outspokenness, but over time they have instead become bitter enemies, AP writes.
It is clear that Milley is considered one of the most political figures in a non-political position, writes CNN. His critics say he has politicized the role for too long to come, while his defenders say he only stood up to defend the constitution in a troubled time.
When he traveled through Europe this week, he was praised for his leadership in the Ukraine war, AP writes.

Judge: Donald Trump guilty of multiple frauds
Donald Trump and his companies have been guilty of fraud. That's what a judge ruled in a civil case in New York, AP reports.
According to the judge, Trump has overestimated his own assets by several billion dollars and thus received favorable contracts and loans. Trump denies the allegations through his lawyers.
A trial in the case is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 2. New York State Attorney Letitia James is proposing that Trump pay $250 million in damages and that he be banned from operating in New York.
The judge's decision is not a regular judgment but a so-called "summary judgment". This means that the judge in the case already before the trial takes a position on the evidence in the case.
"The documents clearly contain falsified values that the defenders used for business purposes," wr
