The caveat: AI technology is moving faster than regulation
Regulation of AI is moving slower than the development of the technology itself, according to UK Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden. The site AI-News writes that Dowden, during a speech at the UN, calls on the countries of the world to immediately take measures to regulate the development of AI.
- The starting shot has gone for a global race where individual companies and countries will strive to push the boundaries as far and as quickly as possible, says Dowden.
He believes that the AI revolution differs from previous technological leaps, because historically laws and regulations have followed the technological development. He is now calling for faster regulatory work, and calls on the countries of the world to work together.
