Russia releases clip with "dead" Sokolov - today again
Another Russian TV clip appears to show Viktor Sokolov, the commander of Russia's Black Sea Fleet, who Ukraine says was killed in an attack on the navy's headquarters in Sevastopol last week.
In the clip broadcast on a TV channel run by Russia's Defense Ministry, Sokolov says the Black Sea Fleet's operations are successful.
Reuters writes that it is unclear whether the statement was filmed after Ukraine's attack on September 22.
Yesterday, the state-run Russian news agency RIA published a video purporting to show Sokolov in a video meeting with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Sokolov was silent in the clip and its authenticity has been debated.
There is a similarity, American security analyst Michael Clarke noted in an interview with Sky News, but emphasized that many pointed to Sokolov being in the attacked building.
- It is possible that Sokolov is alive. But the Russians must present better evidence if they want to be taken seriously, he said.
The mystery: Is the Russian commander dead or on a video conference?

North Korea to deport Travis King – the soldier who ran across the border last summer
North Korea will deport the American soldier Travis King, writes Reuters with reference to the state news agency KCNA. According to North Korea, the interrogation of him has ended. Details of how the expulsion will take place are not known.
Several strange circumstances have surrounded the case of the 23-year-old American. King is said to have been detained in South Korea, accused of assault, and then escorted to an airport to be brought back to the United States.
Somehow he deviated and joined a guided tour near the North Korean border. There are reports that he ran into the closed country laughing.

Haley hopes to steal the show: 'They scratched the others last time'

Trump is again absent from tonight's Republican debate before the presidential election. For the other seven candidates, the clash in California will be another chance after last month's debate in Milwaukee.
For Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, it's important to tap into Trump. However, no opinion movements were visible after the last debate, even though DeSantis is considered to have made a good effort.
However, it is neither Trump nor DeSantis who are believed to have the best chances if they are pitted against US President Joe Biden. It is instead the former UN ambassador Nikki Haley, writes AFP with reference to recent surveys. That she would actually become the party's candidate is less likely.
In tonight's debate, Haley hopes for chances to "steal the show", reports the Financial Times. Oil magnate Harold Hamm, who previously supported Trump but now donated to Haley's campaign, believes she won the last debate.
- She beat the others quite well with her knowledge of what is going on in the world.
