be acquitted, but I will still be a senator in New Jersey, he says at a
press conference.
He adds that the charges are so far only accusations and that "prosecutors sometimes make mistakes".
Menendez and his wife are suspected of accepting bribes in the form of cash, gold bars, luxury cars and other valuable items. In a raid on the couple's home, the equivalent of SEK 5.3 million in cash was found.

Neighboring countries in dispute over buoyancy barrier:"Remove it"
The floating barrier that China has placed in the South China Sea has led to a bigger row between China and the Philippines. The Manila Bulletin newspaper reports that Philippine Attorney General Jesus Crispin Remulla says the barrier is within the country's "exclusive economic zone" and that it "can be removed." At the same time, he emphasizes that he must consult with the rest of the government before deciding how to proceed.
From the Chinese side, the message is the opposite. The country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs claims that it has "sovereign rights" over the Scarborough Reef, where the floating barrier was laid out. The ministry also states that it has taken "necessary measures" to drive away a Philippine vessel in the affected area.
A tribunal in The Hague ruled in 2016 that the Philippines has most of the rights to the disputed areas in the South China Sea. China has dismissed the decision.

Russia warns Armenia: "You are making a huge mistake"
The Russian Foreign Ministry warns Armenia and claims that the country is trying to cut ties with Moscow, reports AFP.
"The leadership in Yerevan is making a huge mistake when they try to destroy Armenia's long-standing and centuries-old ties to Russia," writes the Russian Foreign Ministry in a statement.
Russia further claims that Armenia is "flirting with the West".
The statement comes a day after Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan criticized Russia's actions over Nagorno-Karabakh, saying Armenia's security alliance with Russia is "ineffective".
